Final Recap: Birth as a Sacred Act of Worship

To recap, we briefly covered AMANI Birth’s history and philosophy, gave you an overview of the content of the Blessed Start childbirth education course, and shared some important information about childbirth medications and why natural childbirth education is a key way to get prepared for birth.

Remember, when we refer to “natural birth,” we mean a birth in which the mother is prepared, educated, supported, and encouraged to birth without the interference of medicines, medical procedures, or any other unnatural influences. At AMANI, we believe that birthing naturally means more than just referring to how the baby exited the mother’s body (via the birth canal or abdominal surgery). Instead, we honor the birth experience itself as a natural, sacred act of worship and a display in the trust in our Creator, Allah (SWT).

Yet this does not mean that the mother should birth alone. In fact, we encourage the careful observance of experienced birth professionals, conscientiously chosen by the parents to support the mother throughout pregnancy, who also trust in the Creator and His design of the female body to carry, birth, and feed our babies. We also acknowledge the place for medical interventions when truly necessary to ensure the safety and health of the mother and baby should complications arise.

By preparing for your birth with childbirth education, you will empower yourself with knowledge and build your confidence with practice insha’Allah. You can then tackle the challenges of labor and birth and make informed decisions when faced with unnecessary routine procedures versus interventions for actual complications insha’Allah.
